Home Buyer Reports
Buying a house on a private water supply? Be careful, you could stand to lose a lot of money!
Aging water supply infrastructure. Springs drying up. A landowner who threatens to cut-off your water. A farmer who spreads slurry or pesticides around your spring. Complex water treatment equipment that is expensive to maintain. Water supply regulations that have your head in a spin. Dead animals floating in water tanks.
An unwholesome supply of water to a property may deem it to be uninhabitable under the Housing Act.
WaterSense undertake a full survey of the water supply to your dream home and advise you if it is safe to use. A water sample will be taken and the results interpreted for you. Advice on how to upgrade the supply and the likely costs involved provided. Guidance on how the regulations may affect you and your obligations under them.
Protect yourself from headache and significant potential costs and have the water supply surveyed by WaterSense prior to purchase.
Consultancy
Unfortunately private water supplies can often be complex: multiple interested parties; difficult to treat contamination, compliance with the governing regulations, insufficiency and drought can all make your water supply management problematic.

Case Studies & Clients
Private Property Purchase
WaterSense were instructed by a prospective home buyer in North Yorkshire . The buyer was interested to know if the current water supply arrangements were adequate in terms of yield and quality.
WaterSense undertook a full-suite sample analysis of the spring-derived supply and made a full assessment of the supply infrastructure. Whilst the yield was deemed sufficient, the infrastructure of the water supply was very old and unsatisfactory. Levels of colour, iron (oxidised) and lead in the water were deemed financially unviable to resolve. Suggestions to upgrade the system were provided with an emphasis on replacing the source altogether.
The buyer negotiated a significant discount on the property price and installed a borehole to replace the aging spring supply.
